In 1915, Lal Bahadur Shastri heard a speech of Mahatma Gandhi and was inspired and made his mind to serve country. In 1921, he joined processions in defiance of the prohibitory order and was arrested but as he was minor he was let off. During the Satyagraha march,he threw himself into the freedom struggle and was again aressted for two and half years.
In 1940, he give support to satyagraha individually and was sent to jail again.For "British leave India andolan" he sent instructions to the freedom fighters,after that he was prisoned untill 1946.
After the death of first prime minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru,he was honoured as prime minister on July 9,1964.
He conducted many revolutions at that time demanding the situation of better INDIA.Some are listed here

For the betterment of Indian agriculture,he created a slogan "Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan".This slogan is dedicated to fighters and farmers.As he thought that agriculture is the best way tomake India economically great and fighters help in security of country.He dedicated this slogan to them.
Lal Bahadur Shastri died on 11 Jan 1966 in Uzbekistan just after signing the Tashkent Peace Agreement. After his death he was awarded the Bharat Ratna which is considered as the greatest honor given to an individual in our country. A Memorial was built at Vijay Ghat, New Delhi so that our future generations could respect and honor the great son of India. In contemporary times we need leaders like Shastri who could give their utmost love and dedication to their country. At the end I would like you to close your eyes and pray for the divine soul of Lal Bahadur Shastri. An honest person like him would never be born again.
