सूर्य भगवान को भानु नाम से भी जाना जाता है। रविवार का दिन सूर्य् भगवान को विशेष रुप से सर्मपित माना जाता है। सूर्य को सभी नौ ग्रहों के राजा की उपाधि दी गई है है और इसीलिये इनका स्थान सभी ग्रहों के बीच में रखा गया है। भगवान सूर्य की दो पत्नी है एक नाम छाया और दूसरी का नाम संध्या। भानु सप्तमी पर सूर्य की पूजा करने से विशेष लाभ मिलता है।

शिव-पार्वती के पुत्र गणेश जन्म की कथा वर्णन से पता चलता है की गणेश का जन्म न होकर निर्माण बल्कि पार्वती जी के शरीर से उतारी गई हल्दी से हुआ था। स्नान पूर्व गणेश को अपने रक्षक के रूप में बैठा कर वो चली गईं और शिव जी इस बात से अनभिज्ञ थे। पार्वती से मिलने में गणेश को अपना विरोधी मानकर उनका सिर काटकर अपने रास्ते से हटा दिया।
जब वास्तविकता का ज्ञान हुआ तो अपने गणो को उन्होंने आदेश दिया की उस पुत्र का सिर लाओ जिसके ओर उसकी माता की पीठ हो। शिव-गणो को एक हाथी का पुत्र जब इस दशा में मिला तो वो उसका सिर ही ले आए और शिव जी ने हाथी का सिर उस बालक के सिर पर लगाकर बालक को पुनर्जीवित कर दिया। यह घटना भाद्रमास मास की चतुर्थी को हुई थी इसलिए इसी को गणेश जी का जन्म मानकर इस तिथि को गणेश चतुर्थी माना जाता है।
हिंदू धर्म हमेशा से ही त्यौहारों, व्रत और विभिन्न प्रकार के पर्वों के लिये जाना जाता है। एक ऐसी ही महत्वपूर्ण तिथि को भडली नवमी के नाम से जाना जाता है। इस तिथि को आमतौर पर हिंदू समुदाय में विवाह के लिये शुभ दिनों के अंतिम दिन को माना जाता है।

सभी मनोकामनाओं को पूरा करता है देवशयनी एकादशी का व्रत
आषाढ़ मास में पड़ने वाली शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी तिथि के दिन भगवान विष्णु 4 माह के लिए पाताल लोक प्रस्थान करते हैं. इन 4 महीनों में भगवान विष्णु निद्रा में लीन रहते हैं. इसलिए इस एकादशी को देव शयनी एकादशी या पद्मा एकादशी भी कहा जाता है. शास्त्रों में देव शयनी एकादशी या पदमा एकादशी की बहुत मान्यता बताई गई है. देवशयनी एकादशी का व्रत सभी व्रतों में उत्तम माना जाता है. इस व्रत को करने से मनुष्य द्वारा किए गए सभी पाप कर्म नष्ट हो जाते हैं. जो भी मनुष्य सच्चे मन श्रद्धा और आस्था के साथ देवशयनी एकादशी का व्रत करता है उससे भगवान विष्णु प्रसन्न होते हैं.
हिंदू धर्म में गुरु को भगवान के समान माना गया है. एक दोहे में गुरु का स्थान माता पिता और देवताओं से भी ऊंचा बताया गया है.
